Sunflower Clubhouse is a virtual community for individuals with Down Syndrome and people with other Intellectual and Developmental disabilities
During these times of the Pandemic it is important to keep a sense of community, to still have the opportunity to meet new friends, exchange experiences, learn and laugh together. Sunflower Clubhouse is designed to do just that - for individuals with Down Syndrome and people with other Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities. It offers a safe space for meeting new friends and having fun with the help of a facilitator who makes sure everyone feels comfortable and included.
How Does it Work?
Sunflower Clubhouse members meet virtually once a week via Zoom for one hour. The maximum participants per Clubhouse meeting is 10 members. It will be the same max. 10 members each week. The main goal is to have fun! The second goal is to get to know each other. Therefore, the hour will be structured the same way each week. We have routine of welcoming - short sharing of the week, question of the week. Then a short video (5 min. or less) of learning something new, discussion, and the fourth quarter of our time is for sharing stories, talents, games, appropriate music etc.
Our Clubhouse meetings are divided into the following age groups: 5 - 10 y.
11 - 15 y.
16 - 19 Y.
20 - 29 y.
30 - any age
What's the cost?
The cost is $ 50/month. This includes 4-5 Clubhouse meetings per month (1 each week) as well as one optional parent night meeting per month (for parents/caregivers to meet, exchange ideas and information and just to connect).
